Print revised sheets only

A revision lands and three sheets changed — but reprinting the whole set is easier than working out which three. Drop in both versions and we'll tell you exactly what moved: changed sheets, new sheets, removed sheets, by sheet number. Then print just those. Both files are read in your browser and never uploaded.

Why this saves real money

On a 48-sheet ARCH D set at $2.00 a sheet, a full reprint is $86.40 after the volume discount. Three revised sheets is $21.00 including shipping. Same information in the field, a fraction of the cost and a fraction of the paper — and the crew isn't hunting for which sheets are new in a stack of forty-eight.

Multiply that across a job with six revisions and a few trades, and it stops being a rounding error.

How the comparison works

  1. We read the sheet number from each title block — A1.2, S2.1, E-2.3 — using the text in your PDF.
  2. Sheets are matched by number, not by page position. This is the part that matters: insert one sheet at the front of a revision and a naive page-by-page diff calls every later page changed.
  3. Each sheet's content is fingerprinted and compared against the same sheet in the old set. Plot dates and times are ignored, because those change on every export without the drawing changing.
  4. You get changed, new and removed, priced against printing everything.

What it won't catch

We compare the text on each sheet. That covers notes, dimensions, callouts, schedules and revision clouds with text in them — the overwhelming majority of real revisions. A change that alters no text whatsoever, such as a line nudged with nothing annotated, may not be flagged. And a PDF flattened to pure images has no text to read at all; for those we say so rather than guess. If a sheet matters and you're unsure, print it. We would rather tell you the limit than have you trust a list that missed something.

Questions

How do you know which sheets changed?

We read the sheet number out of each title block — A1.2, S2.1, E-2.3 — and compare each sheet against the same sheet number in your previous set. Matching by sheet number rather than page order matters: if a sheet was inserted, a page-by-page comparison would report every following page as changed.

Are my drawings uploaded to compare them?

No. Both PDFs are read in your own browser and neither is sent to us or anywhere else. You only upload when you decide to place an order.

What if a change is only graphical?

We compare the text on each sheet — notes, dimensions, callouts, schedules, revision clouds with text. A change that alters no text at all, such as a line moved with nothing annotated, may not be detected. If a sheet matters and you are unsure, print it.

What if my title blocks have no readable sheet numbers?

Scanned or flattened sets sometimes have no extractable text. We fall back to comparing page 1 to page 1 and tell you clearly that we have done so, because that comparison is only valid if nothing was inserted or removed. In that case, send both files with a quote request and we will compare them by hand.

Can I still print the whole set?

Always. Both options are priced side by side so you can see exactly what the choice costs — and for a field set that has drifted through several revisions, a clean full set is often the right call.

Does this work with Bluebeam or Procore exports?

Yes. Any PDF with selectable text works, which covers exports from Bluebeam, Procore, Revit, AutoCAD, ArchiCAD and Vectorworks. Flattened-to-image PDFs are the exception.
